Adoptions & Family Support Network, Inc. was started after the board members worked together for over 10 years in the areas of adoption, family services, medical aid and foreign missions. We have been blessed to be able to witness lives being changed after connecting people with needs to people who can help. We believe that everyone experiences a time or two in their life when they could use a little help or support. Our desire is to provide assistance, guidance, and support to any individual who may need help with building or enriching their family.
2. How are your adoption home study and your organization unique?
Adoptions & Family Support Network is a small agency developed to make adoption affordable so more families can have the opportunity to provide a loving home to children in need. A social worker assists each family through the entire home study process in order to complete the assessment in an efficient manner.
3. Why are you passionate about adoption and the home study process?
This agency is supported and staffed by those who believe that every child deserves a safe and loving home. The home study process is an opportunity for exploration of values and goals, self-reflection and learning for the adoptive parent(s).
4. How long is an adoption home study valid?
A home study is valid for one year. The home study can be updated by this agency after one year.
5. Approximately how much time is necessary to complete an adoption home study by your organization?
The length of time it takes to complete a home study depends on how quickly the adoptive parent(s) work at completing all the paperwork and requirements. Usually it takes at least 4-6 weeks to complete a home study.
6. How many post-placement visits does your organization require?
A specific number of post-placement visits are usually required by a country or state and are ordered by the court. This agency requires at least one post placement visit.
7. If you complete my home study, do you also have to complete my post-placement visits?
A post placement report is required for any placements facilitated by this agency. If your adoption is private or your child is placed through another agency, this agency does not have to do the post-placement visit even if we did the home study.

An adoption home study is a picture as well as an assessment of a family who wants to nurture, love, and raise a child. The adoption worker is looking at how well a family is prepared to raise a child. Applicants for a home study should be prepared to share personal information about themselves and their family, provide many official documents, verify employment and income, fill out paperwork, obtain background checks, and open their home to the adoption worker.
9. What do your home study social workers look for in a home and a family when they visit potential adoptive families’ homes?
A home visit is a time of sharing more about each applicant, their family, and their home. The home should be a warm, welcoming, and safe environment.
10. Are you Hague accredited, and if not, does your international home study comply with Hague International Standards?
Adoptions & Family Support Network is not Hague accredited. . This agency can do international home studies for nonparticipating countries. Many Hague countries allow non-accredited agencies to do the home study when supervised by an accredited agency. Check with your International Program.
11. Do you have experience in completing the home study and working with international placement companies? What International support services do you provide?
This agency has done international home studies for nonparticipating counties in addition to those done with supervising international placement agencies. This agency can provide post-placement services for the international adoption as well as any counseling services.
